Principal's News

Mrs Gabrielle Espenschied

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to our fundraising group for their wonderful efforts in raising funds to support our students. The chocolate drive and Bunnings sausage sizzle were highly successful and we look forward to this Friday night where we gather as a St Mary’s parent community to enjoy each other's company and raise some funds for our students.

Congratulations to the Year 4 students on receiving the Sacrament of Eucharist at Immaculate Conception Church yesterday. It was a wonderful celebration and I thank Natalie Dullard and the 3/4 team for all their excellent work in supporting the students on their faith journey.

Building a positive community around our students is imperative to the mental health and wellbeing of our students. We thank the Immaculate Conception community for their wonderful support of the St Mary’s community.

Pope Francis instituted a celebration of World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly on the fourth Sunday of July, coinciding with the feast day of Saints Joachim and Anne (26 July), the grandparents of Jesus.

Grandparents and elderly community members are so important in the lives of young people. Grandparents are a valuable and vital resource in our communities. They provide children with stability and a sense of generational continuity. Many grandparents are also significant carers in the lives of their grandchildren and a number of them are the primary carers (Brady cited in ACMFC 2012, p. 2).

By connecting with our Parish and local community, we can ensure all our students feel a great sense of support as many of our families, particularly our Defence Force families, do not have their extended family near them.

Uniform

We are proud of our St Mary’s uniform and have made some minor updates to the range of uniform available. Below is a snapshot of the products you will be able to purchase very soon from Beleza.

Updated items available now in the store are as follows:

  1. Updated girls pants with logo in a more fashionable design
  2. Updated new stretch shorts and pants with logo

Items which will be available soon are as follows:

  1. New soft shell jacket with logo
  2. New St Mary’s beanie
  3. New sports uniform design - TBC new t-shirt and possible striped rugby jumper that is still being designed.

Please ensure your child is in the full St Mary’s uniform with logo present on each item. We have listened to feedback and have a more practical range available. All items worn must be the official St Mary’s uniform and not variations from other stores.

In particular, I highlight the expected shoes. Students must wear black leather shoes with the formal uniform. Black runners are not acceptable. I have funds donated from our wonderful Parishioners and vouchers for Bata shoes to assist parents. Please ensure your child has the correct shoes and do not hesitate to contact me if you need support with uniforms.

Finally, our Mini Mary’s transition program commences on August 15th. This is a wonderful opportunity for our new St Mary’s students to come and try school. Please spread the word and invite any prospective parents to come along and see our wonderful school in action.

Yours in Partnership,

Gab
