What: Camp Seek
Who: Year 9 and 10 Girls and Non-binary young people
When and more info: Camp Seek is a STEM focussed learning and immersion program for Year 9 and 10 girls and non-binary young people (aged 14 – 16 years) taking place during the September school holidays. Participants will spend four days at SEEK HQ in Melbourne.
Participants will learn from subject matter experts about their career journeys in tech, develop their coding, learn about real-world problem solving and put it all to use in a Create-a-Thon project with fellow Camp SEEKers. Who: Year 10 and 11 students
When and More Info: This is a two stage program for young people keen to learn about careers in agriculture. You will participate in a 3-day residential program at Longerenong College in September and then present to a Rotary Club about your experience in the program. Early bird applications close 31 July and the cost is $250, or $350 if paid after this date but before 31 August. Sponsor Rotary Clubs can assist with this fee. What: Girls in Electrical – Lighting the Spark
Who: The Lighting the Spark Program is a program for girls in Year’s 10 & 11 who are interested in undertaking a Certificate II in Electrotechnology at TAFE Gippsland.
When: 2024
More info: The program involves students undertaking a VET Certificate II in Electrotechnology in an all-girl class at TAFE Gippsland over two years beginning in 2024. As part of the program there will also be an activity each term that will help students understand the career opportunities that exist as an Electrician and prepare them for the workplace. This will include a day at the Tech School, industry visits, presentations by industry and some leadership workshops. It will also include a Program Launch and Graduation Event. Other than the normal $500 MSCW VET Admin Fee, there is no additional costs connected with this program.
