Last week the DRI leaders Harlow, Archi, Maddie and Isla came to visit our classes to teach us all about Westernport Bay and how to care for our amazing ocean life. 

 

We learned that there is lots of rubbish harming animals like dolphins and fish because they are mistaking it for food and eating it. 

 

Here are some interesting animal and ocean facts we learned from them:

 

A sea sponge is 900 million years old. - Amelie

 

Decorator crabs use seaweed and shells to disguise themselves. - Auggie

 

A Port Jackson shark carries its egg in its mouth. - Tilly

 

When seals gets hot they put a flipper in the air and wave it around to cool down. - Myah

 

Balloons are dangerous for sea life. You can use bubbles instead of balloons at parties. - Savannah

 

The 11-armed sea star can have between 7 and 14 legs. - Rory
