Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to the Year 4 students on receiving the Sacrament of Eucharist at St. Peter’s Shoreham yesterday. It was a wonderful celebration and I thank Kerry Colliver and the 3/4 team for all of their excellent work in preparing the students for this special occasion.

Building a positive community around our students is imperative to the mental health and wellbeing of our students. We thank the St Peter’s community for their wonderful support of our school community.

Pope Francis instituted a celebration of the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly on the fourth Sunday of July, coinciding with the feast day of Saints Joachim and Anne (26 July), the grandparents of Jesus.

Grandparents and elderly community members are so important in the lives of young people. Grandparents are a valuable and vital resource in our communities. They provide children with a stability and sense of generational continuity. Many grandparents are also significant carers in the lives of their grandchildren and a number of them are the primary carer (Brady cited in ACMFC 2012, p. 2).

By connecting with our Parish and local community we can ensure all of our students feel a great sense of support as many of our families particularly our Defence Force families do not always have their extended family near them.

Kids in Space

Congratulations to our senior students for their outstanding participation in the Kids in Space forum last Friday. A special thanks to Ashleigh Gledhill, Sue Jackson, Kaycee Jackson and Luke Hewitt for their wonderful support of this high quality learning experience. Our Senior students have been designing and inventing ways to enhance the wellbeing of astronauts in space ensuring they are building deep scientific understandings and being able to make a difference to the lives of others.

Uniform

We are proud of our St. Joseph’s uniform and have made some minor updates to the range of uniform available. Below is a snapshot of the products you will be able to purchase very soon from Beleeza.

Updated items available now in the store are as follows:

  1. Updated new design tracksuit pants with logo
  2. Updated girls pants with logo in a more fashionable design

Items which will be available soon are as follows:

  1. New soft shell jacket with logo
  2. New St Joseph’s beanie
  3. New knitted jumper with logo
  4. New formal design shorts and updated winter pants
  5. Sports tshirt available from Beleeza

Please ensure your child is in the full St. Joseph’s uniform with logo present on each item. We have listened to feedback and have a more practical range available. All items worn must be the official St Joseph’s uniform and not variations from other stores.

In particular I highlight the expected shoes.

Students must wear black leather shoes with the red tshirts. Black runners are not acceptable. I have funds donated by our wonderful Parishioners and vouchers for Bata shoes to assist parents. Please ensure your child has the correct shoes and do not hesitate to contact me if you need support with uniforms.

Finally our Joey’s transition program commences on August 10th. This is a wonderful opportunity for our new St Joseph’s students to come and try school. Please spread the word and invite any prospective parents to come along and see our wonderful school in action.

Yours in Partnership,

Gab
