SUBJECT SELECTION 2024

Subject Selection for 2024 is well underway.

Students who are moving into Year 9 –12 in 2024 (current Year 8–11) should submit their subject preferences by midnight Sunday 20 August

This allows students and parents to use the Student Parent Teacher conferences to discuss their progress with the teacher and receive advice about subjects for next year.

The advice we give all students is to ‘pick subjects you enjoy, subjects you are good at and subjects that meet the prerequisites of any future courses you are interested in.’ This will help create an interesting, engaging and successful program for each individual.

We have a series of event and support structures to help students with their subject selection.

There is a VTAC night for Year 12 parents and students on Monday 31 July followed by VTAC workshops and individual student meetings to discuss preferences with our careers practitioner, Ms Lauren Sach.

Year 11s have had an assembly about 2024 Year 12 Subject selection and are having individual meetings with staff who can support them.

We encourage parents and students to make use of the resources available and talk to staff at school and including the Academy Senior Subject Hub which gives details about the VCE program at the Academy.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Yr 11 Religion in Australia Excursion

On the 11 of July the Year 11 cohort had a glimpse inside some sacred sites they wouldn’t usually get the opportunity to experience. Year 11 Blue & Silver made their way over the the East Melbourne Hebrew Congregation to hear all about Jewish law, traditions & rituals from Rabbi Gutnick. This interactive and dynamic presentation engaged the students and gave them the opportunity to enjoy the rich history of Judaism.

Year 11 Green & Red headed over to The Albanian Australian Islamic Society in Carlton to get a tour of the Mosque from Imam Perparim followed by an interesting presentation on the Pillars of Islam & the Articles of Faith, finishing off with a rich Q & A from the students. The students will swap over in the coming weeks to experience the other religious experience.

As the Year 11s are moving into their new outcome on Religion in Australia, they will have a wealth of new knowledge to work through in the classroom from the generosity of the Rabbi & Imam inviting us to visit.
