Principal's Report

ASSEMBLIES OF OLD

There are many reasons why schools make the effort to run regular assemblies, including:

·         Celebrating special achievements.

·         Giving students experience at speaking in front of an audience.

·         Setting school wide expectations.

·         Building excitement for events that are coming up.

And of course, creating an opportunity to build a sense of school pride and providing encouragement and support for the kids.

Pre-covid, large crowds were the norm for Friday assemblies at the Buninyong Campus, but obviously that was disrupted by the pandemic.  It’s really pleasing to see the numbers gradually build, and last week’s assembly felt like the days of old.

Thanks to those that have been coming along and we’d encourage everyone to consider joining us if that’s something you can manage.  Over the coming weeks there will be lots of musical performances, along with a variety of presentations to enjoy.

And thanks to our Scotsburn parents who always provide strong support for the Scotsburn Campus assemblies.

Note: The term 3 calendar indicated this week would be a P-2 assembly, however a swap has been organised, meaning this week’s Buninyong Campus assembly will be for the 3/4s and next week (Aug 18) will be for the P-2s.

Parent Surveys

In the coming few days families will receive an invitation to participate in a Parent/Guardian Survey.  We’d really appreciate you spending the time to complete that survey if you are selected.

The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

All responses to the survey are anonymous. This year, the Parents and Caregiver Opinion Survey will close on Friday September 8.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
