from Julie's Desk

I can’t believe it is already Week 2 of Term 3.  Being in the thick of Winter, if you need Winter uniforms for your children and are currently struggling to afford them due to the higher cost of living, please contact me and I can arrange for uniforms to be supplied.

We don’t want any child feeling cold, because that definitely impacts learning and engagement.

Another aspect that affects learning and engagement is tiredness levels. Please make sure that your children are having non-screen downtime before going to bed and make sure that their bedtime routine lends itself to them being able to sleep for a significant amount of time, so that they wake up refreshed and energised to have breakfast, get ready for school and be on time.

Lunch Orders

As a busy working parent, I understand that sometimes things get missed.  Lately, a number of students have had lunch orders arranged for them, but they are scheduled to be offsite at excursions.  Please ensure that you cancel lunch orders when your children will be attending offsite activities.

Below are two pictures, one is of a painting that I was privileged to watch being painted on a visit to Sydney early in the year.  If you see me out in the yard, feel free to ask me about the story behind it.  We can have a yarn.

The other picture is of one of my ‘Character Monsters’. These live in my office and are a great way of remembering the importance of specific character traits, like Kindness. Below is a great acronym that I often use when encouraging children with their conversations.

– Is it True?

H – Is it Helpful?

I – Is it Inspiring?

N – Is it Necessary?

K – Is it Kind?

Let’s continue to encourage our children to THINK before they speak. It’s amazing what can happen when people do!

Until next time,

Julie Reid  -  Assistant Principal, Wellbeing & Inclusion (on behalf of the team)
