SAPSASA Basketball
The 2023 SAPSASA Basketball carnival for boys and girls took place at The Lights Community and Sports Centre on the 8th of August. The two teams of students that participated in this event were all year fives and year sixes. At the basketball carnival both teams got to play 5 games of basketball.
We felt very nervous and happy at the same time. It was really fun and we had an overall amazing experience. We learnt that in basketball you need to be quite fast and quick at passing the ball or the other players will snatch it out of your hands and it will be a turnover.
Both the boys and girls team progressed throughout the day and it was overall a great experience. Both teams had a few ups and downs but overall we had a good day. We would like to thank Brayden and all the parent volunteers who took their time to take us there and back.

SAPSASA Athletics Carnival
Approximately 50 students from years 4-6 participated in the SAPSASA Athletics Carnival at Bridgestone Athletics Centre. It took place in week 3 of term 3 on the 10th of August. GPS had many placings with 11 students being selected for the district athletics team: Brayden R, Jack M, Riley K, Mirla M, Bianca R, Alexis B, Ramona E, Georgia M, Jaden K, Keely M, and Noah Y.
I went to the carnival for long jump and relays and it felt really good because I did well in athletics and placed 1st in relays and long jump. I learnt that I can jump pretty far and how to improve my form.
I would like to thank the teachers and SSO’s.

In week 1 of this term, the NRL ran another tag rugby clinic with our year 5/6 classes in preparation for the SAPSASA Tag Rugby carnival later this term.
We also congratulate o Jack M and Stephanie G who were selected for SAPSASA District Soccer teams. They competed in a carnival in week 5.
