From the Leadership Team

Book Week

We had a blast at our Book Week Parade yesterday! It was amazing to see how our parents and community helped us make this event so special. Our students had a great time dressing up as their favourite characters and celebrating the power of reading. This year's theme 'Read, Grow, Inspire' showed us how reading and loving books can help us grow as learners and people. A huge shoutout to both Sonia Howard and Jenny Nicholls for their outstanding displays in the Resource Centre, the focus on our Book Week buddy activities and the parade.  Don't miss the amazing pictures of our Book Week Parade on the Book Week page of this newsletter. You'll love seeing the creative costumes and happy faces of our students and staff. It was a fun and memorable event for everyone!

Student placement process for 2024

On Tuesday, 5 September your child (F-5 only) will bring home a Student Placement form for 2024. Please read the information carefully and complete and return the 2nd page only to your class teacher before Thursday, 21 September.  It is essential that the form is returned from every student in years F-5.

Classroom volunteers

If you are volunteer trained and are interested in supporting students in classrooms, it is now an expectation to attend a workshop facilitated by Jacqui Isgar - Assistant Principal (Early Years) and Abbie Van Pamelen - Speech Pathologist. During the workshop, we will be looking at how to support students in learning to read and the role of the volunteer.

The first workshop was held in term 2 and was well attended with positive feedback received. The next workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, 6 September. Please follow this link to register

We are excited to welcome parent volunteers back into our classrooms to support students with their learning and we strongly encourage you to attend a workshop to increase the amount of support we can provide in classes.

If you are interested in volunteering in the classroom and are yet to complete volunteer training, you can register to attend the next training session on 31 October here

Communicating with staff

We have advised previously of the technical issues impacting communication via the Bloomz app.  After further research, it was found that the company has made considerable changes that affect both the school's and parental use. Next week teachers will be permanently archiving their class accounts and these will no longer be accessible.

Moving forward, if you need to communicate with your child's teacher please do so via their email.  Email addresses can be found in the list available via the green button below. Alternatively, please continue to contact the front office.  As with the Bloomz app, teachers are unable to monitor and respond to emails throughout the school day as they are teaching.  For any urgent needs or absences please continue to contact the front office.

Additional school and class information will continue to be shared via the school's EdSmart email platform.

In our week 5 and 10 newsletters, teachers provide information on learning that has occurred in the 5-week block.  This information is shared at Governing Council meetings. Please take the time to read through these reports which can be found on the Governing Council page of the Newsletter.

Payments for camps and excursions

Greenwith Primary School is committed to providing every student with extended learning opportunities both on and off school grounds.

Participation in incursions, excursions, camps or SAPSASA events provides these opportunities to students in a valuable way. To ensure that these are provided successfully, we request that all payments OR payment negotiations be finalised by the due date set. We are unable to accept late payments.

The school gives much consideration to the due dates set to ensure that there is ample notice given to families whilst allowing time to finalise numbers for the particular provider/s of the event. When the due date is not adhered to, the risk of cancellation, changes to teams or groups and/or price rises for these events increases, which can disadvantage multiple families in the process and place a significant workload on teachers' organisation of the event.

We thank you for your assistance with this matter.

A message from Greenwith Campus OSCH

On Friday, 1 September 2023,  Greenwith Primary School will be having a pupil-free day and on Monday, 4 September 2023 Greenwith Primary School will be having a school closure day.

OSHC will be taking bookings for these days and will proceed with providing care if we receive a minimum of 13 bookings for each day. A week prior to the date we will advise families that have submitted a booking form whether we will be able to provide care.

Contact OSCH directly to make a booking for these days. We would also like to give families advance warning that on Monday 16th October 2023 OSHC will be closed. Staff will be participating in the second part of their Resilient IMPACT Foundational Training.
