Book Week Recount by 1O
Last week, our whole school celebrated Book Week for 2023. We celebrated Book Week by having lots of fun and doing special activities during the week.
Before Book Week started, the Year One’s worked together to create our amazing library window display. We used templates of mushrooms, butterflies, leaves and more! To decorate them we used paint, confetti, pencils and old book club magazines. It was really good and we really liked it.
On Tuesday 22 August, Andy Griffiths came to our school. We had an assembly in the morning. He was talking all about his books and he also signed them for us. As part of his talk, we even got to see new parts of his new book ‘The 169 Story Treehouse’. We felt excited.
Then on Wednesday 23 August, we had our school dress up day. We dressed up as our favourite book characters. We all got together and had a parade in the stadium. The parade was really fun, and everyone had amazing costumes. All the teachers were dressed up as Where’s Wally. We even saw some of them have a dance party on The Heights. On this day at lunch time, there was a Where’s Wally scavenger hunt. They were all hidden around the school. It was so hard, but we still had a lot of fun.
Here is some of our favourite things about Book Week:
Stanley Z: “I like dress up-ing”.
Charlie R: “I liked the parade”.
Eden S: “I loved all of the fun activities we did”.
Evan X: “I liked the scavenger hunt”.
Yugvart P: “When Andy was trying to tell Terry to close the door of the weather machine”.
Natalia R: “I loved everything about it”.
Alia A: “When the Book Week Gnomes came and visited the Year ones”.
Christian P: “When Andy kept making signs to close the weather machine”.
Evie W: “When we saw Andy Griffiths and we got to see the new book coming out”.
We hope you enjoyed our Book Week memories,
