Year 3 & 4 Junior HoopTime Basketball

We entered two Allstars, three Futures and two Rookies teams on Thursday 24 August at Nunawading Stadium. Congratulations to all children who participated in the round robin competition! It was the first basketball matches for a number of students. All teams showed great co-operative skills and sportsmanship.

Three teams played off in finals. Congratulations to the Girls’ Allstar team who finished runners up, Boys’ Allstar team who won their final, and Hawks Futures team who played in the semi-final.

Fantastic effort by all the competitors!

This event wouldn’t be possible without the help from our school community. Huge thank you to Miss Kemp for her assistance with the selection and training of the teams. Also, thanks to Mrs O’Connor and Mr A for their help on the day. There were several parents who helped on the day; massive thanks to Kat & Ross Pryde, Eureka & Andre Bronfrer, Dylan Fan, Tom & Jayme Smyth, Pia Ahmet, Hilary Charter, Eric Huang and Sumashi Rustagi.

Special thanks to my son Nathan and sister Danielle for coaching and scoring as well as two Year 6 students Japun and Jerry Z.

On the 24th August the Year 3 and 4s had HoopTime. Everyone played so well and had a great time. The Boys’ Allstar team played very well and won the grand final. The Allstar Girls were so close but unfortunately the just lost the grand final but played some great games. The Rookies and Futures also played well. Well done to all the children who participated.

A big thank you to the parent helpers, coaches and Ms Hocking for putting this together for us.

On 17th August some Year 5 and 6s participated in a round robin basketball competition against six schools. There were seven teams from our school. We played in the Girls’ Allstars team, playing three games and two finals. We have eight players on our team. We did not lose a single game and won the grand final. This qualified us to go onto the Division Basketball which is held next term. Everyone had a lot of fun and enjoyed the day. We would like to thank Ms Hocking and all the parents and teachers who came to coach and support us.
