Leadership Report
Term 3 is well underway...
Where is 2023 going?
It's hard to believe we are nearly at the halfway point in the term already. Our classes have all been extremely engaged and settled into the learning program for the term.
A word on learning - classroom observations and reading fluency work
Over the past week, I have visited all classrooms to conduct lesson observations on reading fluency. As a school and partnership, through our commitment to the Dibels reading project, are working very hard to build consistency in practice to further strengthen the way in which we are delivering reading in classrooms. This has been an invaluable process and I am very pleased to say, we are doing amazing things! The hard work is obvious in classrooms with clear, high-quality teaching and learning opportunities and engaged and focused students.
Our consistency in practice is further developing and students are building their understanding with the processes teachers have implemented and we are therefore building their understanding and reading proficiency. I wish to extend my gratitude to our incredible staff, (teachers and SSOs) who have been excelling and working hard in this space to support our improvement journey.
Our Pupil Free Day next Monday will focus on this work and allow teachers to reflect on their practice, student learning data and the impact of their instruction. This will then inform the planning and preparation we will be concentrating on for the remaining weeks of the term. This is very exciting for us and I look forward to seeing us continue to grow and refine our work.
Parent Survey
You’re invited to complete the 2023 annual parent survey, which is now open.
Parents and caregivers should have received an email or SMS from the Parent Survey Team with a unique link to participate in the 2023 annual parent survey, which is now open.
The survey takes less than 10 minutes and will help us understand:
what we’re doing well
where we can improve
what’s important to you.
It has been coordinated centrally so that added administration workload isn't placed on the school. Your answers won't identify you or your child. Only collated feedback will be provided to our school.
Information collected will inform improvement planning and activities at the school.
The survey closes at midnight Sunday 27 August.

SSO Week - next week!
Next week is a very important week in the school calendar! It is SSO Week!
This is a great opportunity for all of us to recognise and acknowledge the extra special contributions of our SSOs and the incredible work they do:
Day in, Day out!
We have the most astounding team of SSOs who work and support teaching and learning at Marion Primary School. I wish to take this opportunity to list our SSOs below:

Over the course of the week, we will do a little something special for each of them and host a celebration morning tea at school. If you spot any of these 'weavers of magic' around the school next week, please make their day and help us in passing on your appreciation from the parent body and let them know how special they are to us all at Marion PS. Thank you to all of our SSOs! Enjoy the week ahead.
Regards,
