Captains' Corner

Kate Jardine and Abigail Carr, College Captains

These last few weeks have been very busy in the Clayfield Community. Some of the highlights have been the Seniors BBC versus CC Netball game, Jazz on the Green and the announcement of the Student Representative Council (SRC).

On Friday 28 July, the CC Seniors went face to face with the BBC Seniors in an intense Netball match, which ended up in us flogging (2 - 22) them and having a great time. We really appreciated everyone who showed up and offered their support to our team.

Towards the end of the afternoon, we decided to swap around the teams and have mixed teams which was a bit more interesting than the CC Seniors beating BBC. After the Netball game had ended with a victory to Clayfield, we all enjoyed a sausage sizzle and snacks made by Mr D and Ms Mills. Everyone really enjoyed one last free afternoon before our exams approached.

Jazz on the Green was another amazing event hosted at the school, which featured our own Big Band, BBC Band, various other artists, and James Morrison. Even throughout the bad weather, the community persisted and came together to enjoy some amazing music.

Seeing all our friends there to support us was a great way to connect through something we all love and socialise amongst a stressful schedule. For the performers, it was a day in which they could showcase their talent to the wider community and learn from skilled artists.

We were also incredibly excited to receive the news of the SRC representatives announced to us. Our first meeting is this Friday, and we are so excited to meet and discuss upcoming events such as the National Day of Action Against Bullying.

We will be working with all grades to create awareness activities such as all students making a pledge to treat people with kindness and respect, a Kindness Colouring Competition, and wearing an orange ribbon.

As our first project as a SRC, we are incredibly excited to work with all the representatives and receive feedback from our peers
