Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends,

Congratulations- we all made it!!! Well done to you all. On behalf of our students I would like to thank families and staff for their persistence in making this term the best it can be. Reports come home today and these necessarily are somewhat briefer than usual due to what data staff actually had available to report on. The reports also acknowledge the efforts of the students during the remote learning phase of this term.

With no positive changes to what we can and can't do regarding the COVID 19 situation to be announced until July 12th we will continue with our current arrangements at school except for our Foundation students. This class will revert back to their normal pick up time of 3.30pm from the commencement of next term as they all seem to have coped remarkably well in the 5 weeks they have been back at school. I do need to remind families that school drop off is between 8.45 and 9am at the school gate. I am starting to notice students in the playground before and after school and this is not in line with the expectations of the Victorian government. As things change for schools these will be communicated with you. Thank you all so much for your support of current arrangements. Your children are managing extremely well.

The gospel this week asks us to welcome and to be of service to others. These are simple themes that are good for us as adults to reflect on but also a wonderful way for the children to explore how they can live their own faith in a richer way.

I notice that about 20 families have already  booked interview slots. For those who have not yet done so, Parent Teacher interviews are on Wednesday 22 July 2.00-6.30pm and Thursday 23 July 3.45-6.30pm.  Just this once they will be on-line. These meetings are for 10 minutes commencing at the set time you select on www.schoolinterviewsonline.com. Enter in the code jcasy. Then go in and select the timeslots that suit you and you will receive a confirmation email. In the days before the interviews the class teachers will email out an online meeting invitation.

Also a reminder that Flexibuzz is no longer available to the school as the app is closing down. This is the app we have used for a considerable time in communicating messages out to families.  After much research and discussion we have decided that we will use Seesaw announcements to share information with the school community. This will start as at the 26th of June as Flexibuzz closes on the 30th June.

The building project has had a bit of a delay. As part of the pre-checks it was found that our fire services are not compliant with the requirements that are put in place when buildings are upgraded. As such, the builders who tendered for the project have been asked to come and quote the works required to bring this area up to scratch, as part of the project. We hope to commence some time in early Term 3. We are currently clearing the specialist rooms and the library so that when we get the green light we can move swiftly. I would particularly like to thank the senior students and all staff involved under the direction of Mrs Trower for doing this so successfully.

You may have noticed we have purchased a storage container behind the 3/ 4 classrooms. It will be of benefit to the school in the long term but is already being used  to store excess furniture from shared spaces and the literacy resource room. When the 1/ 2 classes moves the 1/ 2 LW class will move into the Literacy Resource Room and the 1/ 2 C class will move into the Multi-purpose room for the first stage of the build while the junior area is completed. The second stage of the build is the current Foundation Room and the Literacy Resource room area which should be completed by the end of Term 4.

Thanks to our P & F for their co-ordination of a remote disco this week. Honestly- who would have thought? Credit to this team for putting an activity together that can engage our students in such a fun way.

Finally a thank you to all of our wonderful students over this term. It has been a challenge, and probably a bit scary for some of you, but you have all been great! See you all back at school on Monday 13th July.

May God Bless you.

Let your light shine!
