Course Description
The study of Industrial Technology provides students with opportunities to engage in a diverse range of creative and practical experiences using a variety of technologies widely available in industrial and domestic settings. This may include study in the areas of Automotive, Building and Construction, Electronics, Engineering, Farm Maintenance, Metal, Multimedia or Timber.
Industrial Technology develops knowledge and understanding of materials and processes. Related knowledge and skills are developed through a specialised approach to the tools, materials and techniques employed in the planning, development, construction and evaluation of quality practical projects and processes. Critical thinking skills are developed through engagement with creative practical problem-solving activities.
What will students learn about?

Related knowledge and skills are developed through a specialised approach to the tools, materials and techniques employed in the planning, development, construction and evaluation of quality practical projects and processes. Critical thinking skills are developed through engagement with creative practical problem-solving activities.
Practical projects are completed in conjunction with a Project report which includes the completion of documentation relevant to the specific project. These documents may include Safety related, Materials / Costing lists, Job plans, CAD Drawings and research tasks.
In Year 9 students undertake four projects which introduce them to a variety of processes including: Accurate measurement and marking out, Handtool use, Sheet Metal work, Welding, Milling, Lathework, the use of portable power tools and the use of Computer Aided Design software.
Currently the three projects are:
- Vice soft jaws.
- Carry - All toolbox.
- Trailer lock.
- Tac Hammer.
In year 10 the student undertake two larger projects which are used to consolidate the skill developed in Year 9.
Currently the projects are:
- The Folding Camp Shovel.
- The Folding Camp BBQ.
