Celebrating our Community

Dear families and friends,

Today the staff of St Peter's attended and participated in an online webinar 'Staying safe and connected online'. Our presenter was Greg Gebhart ,one of Australia’s leading online safety presenters. We explored current technology trends and issues for young people, realistic scenarios and responses to enhance young people's online safety as well as strategies to engage and support the school community. We felt that this was extremely important and we prioritised this as Education is critical for prevention and keeping children safe online. Children and young people are expected to spend more time online during COVID-19, including staying connected to friends and family, playing games or for online learning.

By understanding what young people SEE, SAY and DO online and the challenges they may face, educators, parents and carers are more equipped to help their children navigate some of these issues and know what to do if their child needs help.

In Social and Emotional Learning next week we are going to focus on the Worry Waterfall.

This is a handy tool to use with your child. The Worry Waterfall is a way for children to work through worrying thoughts and problems.
