PRAYER BEFORE MY HSC EXAMS
Loving God, I know that I am not alone in these exams
because you are here with me now and you love me.
Help me to remain calm, to remember the information I need,
and to trust that you have a wonderful plan for my life.
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will opened to you."
I speak personally and on behalf of the school community when I offer our prayers, support and appreciation to the Year 12 students as they journey through these final days of their studies and examinations at St Pius X College. We look forward to celebrating their contribution to the College through the Internal Graduation on Thursday 26 September in the Concourse and on Friday we have their Graduation Mass in Our Lady of Dolours Parish Church led by Fr Jim and then the Graduation luncheon at Mirramar Gardens Terrey Hills.
OUR FIRST HSC EXAMS COMMENCES ON THURSDAY 17 OCTOBER
Please continue to remember Year 12 in your prayers.
The Year 11 students are currently undertaking their end of Year 11 exams and we also offer them our support and prayers. They are working solidly at present and I am confident that when their time comes, they will become an excellent Senior year.
In May of every year, students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 across Australia take part in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and the results provide valuable information about student standards in literacy and numeracy. These results are very pleasing and show strong performance and high growth. They also show that there is much to do, as always.
Parents should have received their son's results but if not, please contact Mr Damo in the Senior School or Mr Long in the Junior School. More information is available on Mr Damo's Teaching & Learning Page.
There are 27 students travelling to Beijing, Shanghai and Xian during the holidays to undertake a Chinese language and cultural tour. They will be led by Mrs Manga and Ms Ho and I sincerely thank them for their efforts in preparation for this significant tour. They will be staying and studying in Universities and visiting schools as well as cultural sites. I am fortunate to travel with them this year and help out although they will need to do all the talking! Best wishes to this tour group.
The College returns to full lessons on Monday 14 October 2019. Students will return in full Summer uniform and parents are asked to ensure that students are ready for this uniform change. The Uniform Shop has closed for the term and will reopen on Monday 14 October at 8.00am.
These holidays the College continues its refurbishment of the Chatswood Campus. We are putting new carpet in all the classrooms in B Block as well as recarpeting the corridors. The Office, Counselling, and Learning Support areas will be recarpeted as well.
There will be preliminary work conducted in C Block in preparation for handover on 12 November following the last HSC exam (Physics) on 11 November. Our architects are TKD and the Builders are Grindley Interiors. We will upgrade C Block commencing 12 November and it will be completed for the start of the 2020 school year.
In Term 4 our Year 9 students will be having their Camps at the College’s retreat facility called Workul Koo. It is on the beach at Terrigal and the boys will have a great experience.
