Spring Ensembles Concert

The Nossal Community is invited to attend the Spring Ensembles Concert on Thursday October 13.  This is the last school concert for the year and we will sadly farewell our Year 12 students who we’ve seen grow and develop over the last four years.  These students will be sadly missed, but they make way for a new group of leaders who will be responsible for inspiring the new music students in 2017.

The concert starts at 7pm and we hope you can find time to come and enjoy the result of many hours of rehearsal and dedication by our students.  We are proud of them for their continued commitment to the music program and look forward to a great night of music.

Compostion at Nossal - the winners and the winners!

In the last couple of months, two of our students who study music composition with James Mustafa have achieved extraordinary things in national competitions.

Jade Roman of Year 9 entered ‘Change The World With Your Song’ and came 2nd with her composition ‘Bulletproof’.  Jade recorded it herself by simply using her laptop, then entered the competition not expecting to hear from them again.  She has won a microphone and will have her song produced and recorded professionally.

Nathan Iuoras of Year 11 entered the Monash University Composition Competition for Secondary School Students.  He composed a work for jazz orchestra and was announced as the winner late last term.  Nathan recorded his piece in 20 minutes in our Meath Auditorium, with the help of Joyee Koay, Boris Guo, James Mustafa, Michael McQuaid, Julia Stoppa, Brianna Chapple, Clancye Milne and Caitlin McGregor. Nathan won $500 and bragging rights at Monash.

Congratulations to both Jade and Nathan.
