Holt District Soccer - Our First Competition

When we arrived at our first round of Soccer we were all confident but nervous.  It was the first time that we played together as a team. Little did we know we’d go to states and win.

Our goal keepers were Annabelle and Saskia P.

This was when it all began.

Our first game was a win, it was fun to work together and play as team. It took some time getting used to, but when we worked it out, we ended up with a good result.

In the first game we won! In the second game we versed St Marys, we drew nil - nil. But we still kept our hopes high. In the 3rd match we won again.

We were overjoyed to hear that we got into the grand final. And guess what, we were going to verse St Mary's, the team we drew against; the challenge was set, we completed that challenge all right. We beat them 3 nil. We scored 18 goals all together, the whole team worked together to make sure the other teams didn't score against us and they didn't.  We won all of our games. We did really well.

Our Coach Andi was the person that kept us all together as a team. Andi was our team leader, our champion; she swapped our positions and did what was best for our team. Mrs Mac came as well, she was a real support she was also what we would call a great cheerleader!  In a way, Mrs Mac also kept us together and kept us all happy and feeling great. All in all, I say that we couldn't of done it without Mrs Mac and Andi.

In the end we were over all winners. It was a great day and everybody had fun. When we won, it was just a dream come true, the excitement throughout all of us was amazing. We left the ground ready for Beachside.  We were all singing on the bus on the way back to school.

It was AWESOME!

Little did we know that it was just the beginning!

Beachside Division

It was Wednesday the 25th of July when the Beachside Tournament commenced at Victory Park. We played 5 long games and our teamwork and communication got us through to the grand final!

We had not conceded any goals against us so far.

Our contestants were: Elwood Primary, St Joan of Arc and Genazzano.

The smiles on our faces are irreplaceable after the last whistles went,

We had Won the Grand Final!

It was a moment we will never forget!

We would all like to say a huge thank you to Andi and Mrs Mac for all the encouragement and support you have given us throughout this amazing journey!

Regionals

The next step was regionals, desperate as we all were to make it to states, we played our hardest. The first game was our toughest, winning at our lowest score yet, but the victory of winning 1 nil against Cranbourne Carlisle lifted our spirits and our game improved from then. It was so cold we were physically shaking that day.

Our second game was slightly easier once the nerves had worn off. We won 8 nil, meaning we were in the finals if we won our third match. The pressure was on, but we pulled through with a 3 nil win.

When we stepped on the pitch for the finals, we were shaking from nerves and the cold. Another team walked past us and said “you guys have to beat them”.  That boosted us up but  we also had some pressure. With great sportsmanship from our team and some great goals, we won.

After a cracking final match we had won with a score of 4-0. We were so pumped for states and we couldn’t wait to start singing 'let it go' on the bus ride there. The thought of states was something out of a dream.

We were so very proud of each and every one of us.

State Soccer Championships

Our final competition was last Friday at the State championship round of school soccer. There were 8 teams participating on the day. We won all of our games and made it to the finals.

The final was anxious and tiring, we eventually won 4-0 against St Christopher's Airport West.  In the whole competition we scored 76 goals and conceded 0. It was a massive achievement for us and we were all very proud of ourselves.

In the first game we played against Liardet St Primary School from Ballarat, the score was 9 - 0. Eva scored 1 goal - Issy scored 2 goals, Bella scored 3 goals and Eirene scored 1 goal.

In the second game we played Ballarat Grammar it was 7 - 0. Issy scored 1 goal -  Bella scored 2 goals - Eva scored 3 goals and Eirene scored 1 goal.

In the semi-final we played Livingstone Grammar, we had both won 2/2 games and it was dependant on the result as to who goes into the grand final, in the end it was 2 - 0. In the first half Bella scored 1 goal and in the second half scored a 2nd goal to put us straight through to the grand final.

In the grand final we played St Christopher's Airport West. Some cracking goals were scored to finalise us as state champs, Issy scored 1 goal - Dakota scored 2 goals and Sophie scored 1 goal.

An extraordinary result came from Friday and we found out that we never lost a game and never had a goal scored against us.

We would like to thank our awesome coach Andi for helping us get to the top! Without you we would have never made it to State let alone winning State. Our result benefited because we had you by our side the whole time, coaching us to be the best we could be.

Also thank you Mrs Mac for being an awesome assistant coach, who was always there to cheer us on and give us the confidence we needed to win 4 competitions in a row.

You always had a smile on your face!

Saskia P, Issy, Bella and Eva
