Junior Athletics Event
The first Junior Athletics day ran superbly with over 300 students involved from Preps to Year 3. The Grade 6 House Captains and Vice Captains helped Mr Farmer to organise an activity circuit of eight Athletic sports that included throwing, jumping and running sports. These events included the traditional sports of the sack race, egg and spoon, foam javelins and the long jump. Prep to Year 2 students went around the circuit in their Year Levels on the morning session and then were followed by Year 2 and 3 students in the late morning session. Each student scored points for their houses and everyone made a superb effort to complete all their events. Students were richly rewarded by the parents committee giving icypoles out to all students at the rest and relaxation stop.
I would like to thank all the House Captains and Mr Jenkins for their efforts in running the events. Thank you to the many parents who turned up to watch the events and organise the icypoles. It was great to see the younger students given a sporting opportunity and a chance to shine in the sun!! Final results were incredibly close with Fraser winning eventually with 313 points, Bradman have 311 in second , Perkins have 310 in third place , with Freeman back on 286 points in fourth. With the Year 4 to 6 event which to place back in March this year it means all students participated in Athletics in 2016. Well done to all involved.
