Year 1 Outdoor Education Night
On Wednesday 9 November, Year 1 students had their Outdoor Education Night. The children had a fun filled evening, starting the night off with team games. After the games the children were ready to enjoy their sausage sizzle, fruit and lollies. Many tummies were satisfied and smiles of contentment were on each child’s face.
The exciting part of the evening happened when ‘The Zoo Comes to You!’ arrived at Jells Park. The students were up close to many wildlife animals. Some of these included possums, crocodiles, wallabies, goannas, frogs, lizards, lorikeets and an enormous python. Students had the opportunity to hold and touch all creatures large and small.
The night concluded with an icy pole and many stories to take home to their family. Thank you to our parent helpers and Year 1 staff for their wonderful assistance throughout the night.
Here is what some of our students had to say:
I liked holding the turtle because it was cool - Chase
I liked the goanna because his tail looked like his face, he felt spikey - Cael
I loved the lorikeet sitting on my head - Meesha
The lizard was cool because it felt smooth underneath - Aidyn
The crocodile had sharp claws and was soft underneath - Ben
I liked touching the snake because it felt smooth and felt like a toy - Aailah
I liked the crocodile because his tail felt spikey - Isaac
I liked the lorikeet because it was balancing on my arm - Aiden
I liked the frog because it was slim - Emma
The snake was amazing because it felt nice and smooth - Kinslie
The koala was cute because it was a baby - Sofia
Level 2 Ceres Excursion
Both the Year 1 and 2 students headed off on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 November to CERES one of the largest sustainability education providers in Victoria. Once there we were able to explore and learn all about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures. We participated in different activities, including learning about bush tucker and tasting different plants, the tradition of Ochre face painting and
re-enacting dreamtime stories. Thank you to all the parent helpers who attended the excursion.
Students comments:
My favourite part of the excursion was when we got to crush the Ochre and put it on our face, I was an eagle.

I enjoyed the bush tucker walk, even though I didn’t like most of the plants we could taste.
Teoni 2H
My favourite part was when we got to dress up in different Australian animals and play the Dreamtime story Tiddalick The Frog, it was funny.
