Ingle Farm Family Zone

On Thursday 6 December four students, Rueben Hernandez and Zaide Johncock from Year 8, and Grace Gregurev and Peyton Hampel from Year 9, went to the Ingle Farm Primary School with one mission: to serve breakfast to the kids at the school. We all had walked into the building with a donation of yoghurt, milo powder and tins of spaghetti. We were welcomed by one of the volunteers, Kathleen, who took us to the kitchen to begin preparing. We gave Kathleen our donations and you could see on her face that she was filled with joy. We used the yoghurt and milo, but the tins of spaghetti were going to be used for lunch time sandwiches. We opened some loaves of bread and put them into the toaster, opened some milk and mixed it with milo, making enough to fill up two large jugs. We started spreading butter, jam, and vegemite onto pieces of toast, then we would put the toast in large containers. Before we left with the food, Kathleen told us that most the kids who we were going to serve were refugees mostly from Syria. She said that most kids come to Australia on a Monday and were going to school that Friday. We took all the foods out on a trolley near the playground where most children and parents would enter. Serving all these little kids made me feel so amazing that we were giving back to the community. One thing that we all realised after serving breakfast to all these people was how lucky we are to have the life we have where there are no wars going on, how we have a roof over our head and multiple meals a day and how we shouldn’t take these things for granted because one day it could all change.

Penpals Program 2018

During Semester 2 students in Miss Colagiovanni’s Year 7 Core Class have participated in the Penpals Program. They have been exchanging letters with residents from Trinity Green Retirement Village, members at Golden Grove Lutheran Church and St Andrew’s Church, Walkerville. Students and their penpals wrote about their hobbies, interests and travels over several months. Both the students and their adult penpals were thrilled to receive their letters and looked forward with much anticipation to meeting face to face at a morning tea hosted by the students at the College last Thursday. Students explained some of the highlights of their first year of secondary school, took their penpals on a tour of the school and shared freshly baked scones for morning tea. Many thanks to all of the penpals for being a part of this annual program.

Christmas Hampers

Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 and their families contributed non-perishable goods to help Lutheran Community Care, at Ingle Farm Family Zone, to make up hampers and support needy families during the Christmas period. The staff and volunteers were very grateful for the large amount of donations received and specifically asked for their thanks to be passed on to members of the Endeavour Community.
