Centre Stage

Centre Stage
The Music Department held their first concert for the year, the annual ‘Centre Stage’ concert, in the last week of Term 1. This was an enjoyable event that allowed every Music student in the school to showcase the music that they had been working on during the term. The concert was held in the Endeavour Centre, where parents and friends were all welcomed to enjoy the music.
The performances included several year level class bands, the Year 8 djembe drumming ensemble and a range of extra-curricular ensembles including the Big Band, Vocal Ensemble, Show Band and Saxophone and Violin Ensembles.
Some highlights of the night included the Big Band playing ‘Second Take’, featuring Max Haill as the soloist, and the Sax Ensemble’s jazz arrangement of ‘Waltzing Matilda’. The Vocal Ensemble’s ballad ‘Since I Fell For You’ was also beautifully performed. The Big Band and Vocal Ensemble performed the set pieces from the Generations in Jazz competition, in which they competed on Saturday 6 May in Mount Gambier. A more detailed report of this amazing weekend will follow in the next Anchor!
