Vision for Learning

Learning Conversations

After a busy Term 1 I hope that as Reports were read, they were rewards for hard work. These interim reports are also a way of fostering the communication between  home and the College albeit a one way form of communication! The second phase of the communication was held on Monday and Tuesday nights this week with Learning Conversations. Monday night, in particular, as families from all year levels met with teaching staff, was a clear testament to that developing relationship. A total of 519 interviews were made with 51 teachers as well as countless additional phone calls, this shows the commitment of both families and teaching staff to the learning of the students.

It was a joy to see the number of parents and caregivers taking a shared responsibility in their child's education and attending to discuss progress so far, the strengths of the student, places of struggle, and goals for the coming term. Learning Conversations are an important opportunity to meet and speak to a teacher in greater detail about an aspect or aspects of a student's learning. The focus is on how we as a team can work together to ensure better outcomes for students.  It is one of the few structured times where home and College come together to meet and show support for each other.  Having families committed to the learning  of their student/s works positively towards increasing student success. Thank you again for the time each family took firstly to read and discuss the interim reports and then to follow up with further discussion and opportunities for support making this a better learning community.
