Principal's Report

Welcome back to Term 2
2017 marks the 500th Anniversary of The Reformation. To celebrate the significant role Martin Luther played in reforming the church in the 1500s, our themes for the year reflect some of his work. The Term 2 theme is Saints and Sinners. Luther calls Christians “simultaneously saint and sinner” because he redefines “saint” as a forgiven sinner. We are called saints not because we change into something different but because our relationship with God changes as a result of God’s grace. Luther said: “The saints are sinners, too, but they are forgiven and absolved.” There are many examples throughout history of lives that reflect saint and sinner at the same time and we look forward to exploring them and this concept throughout the term!
We are delighted to welcome to the College, Louisa Mulligan, our new Director of Middle Years. Louisa has previously taught at Immanuel College and more recently at Loreto College, where she was also was a curriculum leader and engaged in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. We wish her God’s blessing as she begins her time at Endeavour.
Students and staff returned safely from their adventures in Vietnam, with many stories that reflect the wonderful experiences they had immersing themselves in the culture, history and people of Vietnam. Thank you to the teachers, Kelli deLacy, David Thiele, April Dunstan and Lisa Schlicker who organised and led the group.
Congratulations to 2016 Year 12 students Jake Whitehead who received University of Adelaide Principal's Scholarships for 2017. Mohammad Danish Mangi received the Adelaide Undergraduate Scholarship 2017 for his outstanding ATAR.
It was wonderful to see the many parents/caregivers that attended the Learning Conversations on Monday, together with their students. To effectively educate young people to reach their potential as rounded young people who will be the leaders of the future, requires a strong partnership between the parents and the school. The evening provided an opportunity to meet, engage with and discuss each student's progress with subject teachers. Student outcomes are enhanced when students take ownership of their learning and where they receive constructive feedback and consistent messages of support from both home and school.
Do you have younger children wishing to attend Endeavour in the future? Have you enrolled them at the College? We are currently enrolling students for Year 7, 2019. Given the demands for places at the College, please ensure you have completed an enrolment form for each of your children, so that their enrolment is secured. Please note that our main enrolment intake is now at Year 7.
Blessing for the term ahead!

‘There is no saint without a past, no sinner without a future’. St Augustine
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Matthew 9:13
