Year 3 are off to a wonderful start this year!

In maths, we learnt to play partner games such as ‘Greater Than’ and ‘Get Out Of My House’. We encourage you to ask your child how they played these games.

Each class has had their first library session where they borrowed a book for reading at home. We refreshed what a ‘just right’ book is to help maximise learning in reading.  To test a 'just right-ness', students read a random page of a chosen book and hold up a finger for every unknown word.

Before they start, ask them to turn to a random page in the book and read it. For every word that they don't know, they should hold up a finger. Two unknown words is a good choice as it is a reasonable challenge and allow students to learn new words.
