Music Matters

It’s been yet another busy week in the Performing Arts!

‘Encore’ concert: The Year 11 and 12 Music students enjoyed an enlightening and entertaining evening at the Opera House on Monday night, at the ‘Encore’ concert, showcasing the best HSC performances and compositions from 2022. It certainly provided some inspiration for our budding performers and composers!

Performing Arts Captains: Enthusiastic Year 12 musicians and actors have been invited to nominate themselves for a Performing Arts Captain position. The Performing Arts of Music and Drama play a significant role in the life of our St Pius X community, and we are excited to be able to appoint these leadership positions soon.

Open Day: our Concert and Jazz Bands as well as some smaller ensembles and senior music students will be involved in providing music for Open Day on Saturday 18 March . Ensemble directors will be discussing this with their musicians in rehearsals. More details to come soon.

Ensembles: Capable guitarists are invited to join the school ‘Rock Band Ensemble’ run by Mr Brendan Jones (bjones@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au) on Thursday morning in Music Room 2. Bring your guitar (with your name clearly labelled).

The 39 Steps

Rehearsals are in full swing for our production of The 39 Steps. Mr Cummins is now rehearsing with our troupe of musicians and Mrs Fryar is ordering our cast T-Shirts. Remember to save the date for 4 or 6 April. We hope you like our publicity shot – it really brings out the style and feel of the play.
