Year 7 Pastoral Care Camp

We look forward to our upcoming Year 7 Pastoral Care Camps on 22nd March which will be undertaken at the Great Aussie Bush Camp, Tea Gardens. Over the coming week parents will be asked to complete a medical information and consent form, and students to nominate teams from which their cabin and activity groups can be derived. A growth mindset and degree of flexibility are important components in preparation for this team building pastoral growth activity for our students and we thank Year 7 Coordinator Ms Jacqui Loughman and her Pastoral Care Team as they prepare the logistics for students to enjoy and benefit from the activities planned. Year 7 parents are asked to be attentive for and respond to these communications over the coming weeks.

Year 10 PDHPE

With our Year 10 Cultural Games Unit in full swing at Oxford Falls Tuesday Triple PDHPE periods, it was great to see our students engaging enthusiastically with the Fencing, Wheelchair Basketball, Goal Ball, and Hybrid Gaelic Football activities. The Gaelic Athletic Association will have us playing Hurling on Croke Park, Dublin, in no time.

Swim Team and Triathlon Team

While the great work and Leadership of Senior students including Aaron Lau, Nicholas Gladen and Cavan Ryan who led our respective Swimming Squads (Christian Brothers Carnival) and Triathlon Teams to great success and respect this week, the future of SPX Triathlon is in good hands with a good representation in training and competition at the Annual Huskisson “Husky” Triathlon Jervis Bay. Among the young guns representing St Pius were Year 6 students, Joseph Wilson and Oliver Ryder. Remarkably Joseph returned to training in late January from Winter Christmas Family visit to England to taper for his performance. Impressive!

Visit by Old Boy Class of ’89 Michael Schneider Bunnings Group Managing Director

We continue to receive positive reports from the visit of Melbourne based Bunnings Group Managing Director and SPX Old Boy Class of ‘89 who spoke with Ms Colefax’s Year 11 Business Studies class last Wednesday. Such was the value in his talk with the students that we hope Michale can visit again in the future to discuss sustainable business and leadership principles and models with our Year 12 students as well.

International Women's Day

Next week Wednesday 8 March is International Women's Day

Our Student Leaders and Empowerment Teams are aiming to mark the week with a celebration of the many great women in our lives to:

Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #EmbraceEquity.

Celebrate women's achievement. Raise awareness about discrimination. Take action to drive gender parity.

IWD belongs to everyone, everywhere. Inclusion means all IWD action is valid.

Please listen out for and heed our student leaders' communication in this and the celebrations of Harmony Day, National Day Against Bullying and Violence which mark our journey through the Lenten season as we live and act in accordance with our 2023 Student Motto: Listening to Lean and Leaning to Listen.
