Senior Hockey Trials v Kirwan SHS

Saints Senior Hockey Team took on Kirwan State High School in two trial fixtures during Week 7. Saints made a rapid start to both encounters, scoring the opening goals off the back of some sharp work in the mid-field. Both teams fought hard in both fixtures before some lapses from Saints saw Kirwan score multiple goals in the middle of each game to secure 4 – 2 victories in both encounters. Both games were played at a high standard with regional and Queensland representatives involved in both teams.

It proved to be a handy hit out for Mr Seivers’ squad ahead of travelling to Melbourne to defend their title at the MGS International Hockey Cup. Thanks to Mr Seivers for his coordination and organisation of the trials.

Year 7 Rugby League

A break in the weather allowed Saints Year 7 Rugby League Team to travel to Cairns State High School during Week 7. Lucian Walpole – Bennett, Connor Britton, Cooper Batten, Eli Mauro, and a brace of tries for Jaxon Day sealed a 26 – 14 victory. Saints will take on Bentley Park during Week 9 for a place in the Grand Final. Thanks to Mr Williams for coaching the team and Mrs Tina Nissen for driving the students in my absence. Further information will be communicated once details of these fixtures have been confirmed.

Special Achievements – Peninsula School Sport

Gareth Thomas, Henry King, and Kael Newcombe represented the Peninsula region at the 16 – 19 Years State Championships during Week 7. The Peninsula team was extremely competitive in matches against Metropolitan teams throughout the competition. All three boys performed admirably in the championships, holding their own with the state’s best.
