Staff Update

We have a few staff members leaving us this term.   Anna Peters (PE) has taken a year leave to develop her professional knowledge and experience working at another school. Bec Jansman (Secondary Education Support) has picked up a position at a new school closer to home.  Wendy Cross has made the difficult decision to retire after a successful 50 years in education.  We thank Anna, Bec and Wendy for their work and committment to CSDS over many years, and wish them all the very best with their new adventures.

The following staff will fill the positions until the end of term 1:

  • Susan Mance and Liam Fitzgerald will teach PE,
  • Judy Brock will be the teacher in room 6 on a Thursday and Friday, and
  • Vanessa Spargo will cover the Education Support role in Secondary.

Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings

Next week we have SSG meetings for all students.  Teachers are looking forward speaking with parents, carers and students who are able to join in to discuss learning goals and strategies for 2023.  If you don't have an SSG meeting time yet, please contact your child's teacher.

School Council Annual General Meeting

Our School Council AGM will be held on Thursday 16th March at 7pm in the staffroom. School Council encourage all interested parents and carers to attend.

Review - Student and Parent Forums

As mentioned in our last newsletter, this is our year of review and as part of this it is important that we hear from all levels of the school community.

During week 6, (6-10th March) we have planned a number student and parent forums for community voice opportunities.   We highly encourage and would value all parents and carers to take part of one of the parent forums, these are on Wednesday 8 March, 2-3pm (at school) and Thursday 9 March, 7:30-8:30pm (online).

School Photos

We are using a new school photographer to take our student photos this year, 'Field of View Photography'.   We believe Field of View Photography will be able to better capture our students naturally looking happy as they learn and play at school.  Students will be photographed throughout the week beginning, Monday 20 March.  Students will have a few action photos taken across a number of school environments.  Parents and carers will be given a password to use to access and view their own child's photos in which can be then selected for purchase through the company.  Further details will be provided in the next newsletter.

Thank you to Bec Gilmore for her work investigating school photographer options last year.   This was presented and discussed at School Council who agreed Field of View Photography's flexible and differentiated approach to taking photos is preferable to single portraits.
