Plot: The key parts of a narrative that describe what happens in a text.

Effectiveness: How well the author writes the plot to be engaging for the audience.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

With your child read a short narrative and see if you can identify what happens in the plot.

Discuss which plot points are the most important to the story overall.

Has the author has written a plot that is engaging for you? 

Why did or did you not find the narrative engaging?

Would it be more engaging for a different audience?
