On Friday 2nd June we had 6 students representing our school at the Karoo Division Cross Country. This event was held at Jells Park. The students who progressed through to Division and represented our school at the event were Asher (5E), Bree (6HB), Chloe V (4T) Declan (5D), Eva (5W) & Jack (6H). Congratulations to these students for their outstanding effort and determination on the day. You should all be extremely proud of your hard work. I would also like to highlight the extraordinary achievement of Chloe V who finished in 1st place!
Well done to the students who progressed through to Region Cross Country and participated in this event on Tuesday 12th June. I look forward to updating you on this event in our next edition of the newsletter!
On Thursday 8th June we had 20 students from Year 5 and 6 representing our school at the annual Knox Division Girls Football event. There were over 300+ girls that participated in this event with a total of 14 teams competing on the day. The girls played a total of 7 games and managed to stay undefeated, despite coming up against some very talented opposition. I speak for the whole Karoo community in saying a massive congratulations to our girls for the HUGE achievement of finishing in 1st place and bringing home the premiership cup! I would also like to recognise Park Ridge for coming runners up.
We also had two extremely impressive footballers, Mia (6M) and Maya (6H), who participated in the Longest Kick and Grand Final Sprint competition. Awesome work girls! Maya also won the Best & Fairest in our pool and Best on Ground in the Grand Final!
A special thanks to Mr Edwards for his exceptional coaching on the day and for supervising the students throughout the event. A key part of the premiership cup!
The girls will compete in the Eastern Metropolitan Region Football Finals on Tuesday 8th August at Kings Park. Stay tuned for these results.
On Thursday 8th June we had three classes attend the Westfield Launch Clinic to unveil their brand new outdoor court. These classes were 2C, 3M and 5D. Knox Basketball partnered with Westfield and asked our school to take part with our school being featured on the Channel 7 News! The students participated in a warm up, basic skills workout, basketball skills related games and finished with a short game. They also had the opportunity for a meet and greet with some professional basketball players, Westfield executives and the Knox Basketball Association Mascot. I also heard the students were given time for autographs and were lucky enough to come home with a drink bottle!
On Friday 9th June the Year 5/6 students participated in day 2 of the District Sport Round Robin. On this day they continued to compete against other schools in the Rowville District. Well done to all students involved in the AFL, Bowls, Netball, Soccer and Teeball teams. Through speaking with the teachers who supervised you on the day, I have heard extremely positive feedback about your teamwork, how you supported each other and the way you represented our school on the day. Thank you for being such wonderful role models and for continuing to display our school values of kindness, personal excellence and tenacity.
Congratulations and special mention to the Girls A Netball Team for finishing in 1st place and winning the competition. The girls finished with a remarkable 186 points for, 60 points against and a total percentage of 310!
The girls will now progress through to Division Finals on Tuesday 18th July.
