School Nursing Program
Every year the primary school nurse visits to support the health & wellbeing
of students at your school.
The Primary School Nursing Program gives parents/guardians, teachers and
nurses the opportunity to work together to promote health and well-being
for children at school.
Your child will receive the School Entrant Health Questionnaire in their first
year at school, please complete this form and return it to school as soon as
possible. If you do not wish for your child to be seen please tick the ‘no’ box,
& sign on page 5 of the questionnaire.
The information in the questionnaire is confidential & helps the Primary School Nurse understand any concerns you may have about your child’s health & development & the impact this may have on their learning.
This information is important in providing support for you & your child. If your child need’s a brief further assessment such as a vision or hearing test the nurse will see them at school.
You can contact the nurse directly if you wish to discuss the screening which
may include checking your child’s distance vision, hearing, speech and oral
health. The nurse is also available to parents to discuss on any concerns with
parenting and child health & wellbeing issues.
The Primary School Nursing Program is a free service offered by the
Department of Education and Training
Music Instrument Donations
Occasionally and unexpectedly the TPS Music dept. receives donations of musical instruments. This generous offer is always welcome and the instruments are always put to use either in the music room or given/loaned to a student in need of an instrument.
I have included some photos of some of the instruments that have been donated in the last 2 years. Some are donated anonymously and some are friends/music colleagues of mine.
I'd like to make special mention of Mike Forward, a musician from the Latrobe Valley. He was downsizing and believes in ‘paying it forward’, excuse the pun. He donated many thousands of dollars of instruments including drum kits, congas, guitars and guitar amps.
Another special mention is Damon, a local JP. He very recently donated a brand new ‘Artist’ acoustic guitar with a pickup that will be put to good use in the music room and at our concerts.
Also, don’t forget the instrumental concert is on the 22nd of June starting at 5pm. If you are participating your instrumental teacher will have been in contact and sent a form home. All are welcome to attend.
End of Term - Early Finish
School will be finishing for the term, next Friday June 23rd at 1:40pm. As we head into school holidays we wish you all a relaxing break from the school routine.
