Walk Safely To School Day, Friday 19th May.
National Walk Safely to School Day is on Friday 19th May 2023. The annual campaign encourages all primary school children, their parents and carers to walk safely and regularly to school. The event seeks to promote road safety, health, public transport and the environment. Children who are regularly physically active are healthier, perform better academically and are less likely to be obese or overweight.
The objectives of Walk Safely To School Day are:
On the morning of Friday 19th, students and parents are invited to meet school staff members at 3 surrounding locations in Prahran, Windsor and St Kilda East. Together, students, parents and staff will then walk approximately 1KM to school, arriving in time for the school day and a free breakfast courtesy of our P&F. Please see the map below for meeting locations and times. Parents are advised to supervise and walk with their children. If you are unable to do so, please give verbal permission to the staff members at the meeting location Friday morning. We hope to see as many families as possible actively travelling on this day, and we hope that the meeting locations and walking routes to school start healthy habits for everyone!

Paper Waste Audit
This week at our SRC meeting our reps and our Year 6 Wellbeing leaders and Sustainability leaders conducted an audit of the school’s paper waste bin collections over 3 days. Earlier this year we introduced colour coded general waste bins and paper waste bins to reduce and recycle as much of our waste as possible.
We were pleased to find a large collection of paper and cardboard products prime for recycling. We did however find a small amount of paper and non-paper products not suitable for collection. This has emphasized the need to communicate to everyone in our community about using the correct bin, so that our collections are no contaminated. Our SRCs together with our Year 6 Wellbeing & Sustainability leaders will be working on educating our classes about paper recycling. Later in the year we will be also auditing our red waste bins!
