HUMANITIES WEEK

MS MONIQUE WATT - CURRICULUM LEADER HUMANITIES AND TECHNOLOGY

Last week was Humanities Week. The Humanities domain includes the following areas of study; geography, history, civics and citizenship, economics and business.

Each morning during Humanities Week, students had the opportunity in Homeroom to participate in quizzes. The winning Homerooms were Solomon 5 and Xavier 3. Individual champions of these quizzes were Catherine Morpeth and Calyssa Baber.

There were many activities throughout the week for students to be involved in, such as;

  • Colouring of Viking and Egyptian clothing and equipment
  • A Hieroglyphics Decoding session, and
  • Senet Egyptian board games

The Year 9/10 Money Markets and Citizenship students also ran their ‘market day’ on Wednesday 17 May. These students had spent a number of weeks planning and researching before running their food stalls. Stalls included; hot dogs, sausages in bread, hot chocolate, chips and nuggets, very colourful pancakes, slices, and cupcake decorating. The students all made a profit and this will be donated to the charity of their choice.

There was also a Historical Faces competition which was won by Jesse Schulz.

Many thanks to the amazing staff who made this week a success.
