Final Details - St Patrick's College Careers Expo     19 June 2023

St Patrick’s College looks forward to hosting this year’s Careers Expo on Monday 19 June for Years 10, 11 and 12 students.

All students should have returned their permission notes (provided in the link below) by now. It is required that at least one parent/carer attend. If you son has not returned their permission note due to absences from school, can you please email me at joanne.cupac@spc.nsw.edu.au to acknowledge their attendance at the expo.

Free parking will be available in the ACU car park via the entrance off Edgar Street. There will be approximately 100 car spots available on a first-come first-served basis from 6:.00 PM to 9:.30 PM. All vehicles must be out of the car park by 9:30 PM to avoid being locked in the car park.

Below is the location that students are required to go to upon arrival.

  • Year 10 – Gymnasium
  • Year 11 – Hall
  • Year 12 – Robson Auditorium

Students should proceed to their designated location as they will be required to sign an attendance sheet. They can then spend some time exploring in this location and proceed to other locations.

A reminder that the evening will be held in two sessions as follows:

  • Session 1 will commence at 6:30 PM and conclude at 7:30 PM. To be attended by all students in Berg, Coghlan and Crichton.

  • Session 2 will commence at 7:45 PM and conclude at 8:45 PM. To be attended by all students in Hanrahan, Hickey and Rice.

Students must wear their full school uniform. They are permitted to bring their mobile phone to take advantage of the opportunity to scan QR codes in order to sign up to newsletters or course information provided by organisations.

At the Careers Expo we will have 32 exhibitors that will provide advice, information, and resources to you on study and career options. Below is a link to the Careers Expo pamphlet for your reference. The pamphlet provides information on each organisation and the space in which they will be located. I recommend that students browse all stalls with an open mind.

Also, in attendance will be 30 Old Boys who are currently completing university courses at various universities available to speak to any students that would like to know about the course they are undertaking.

The Careers Expo will provide the chance for students to be involved in an evening of exploration. With so many opportunities available after school and an increasing emphasis on senior students to ‘know what they want to do’, the evening will offer the chance for students to explore opportunities and various options for University, TAFE or private colleges.

For many students, the Careers Expo may solidify an interest into a career path, whereas for others it may add another option for a career that they hadn’t yet considered. Alternatively, for those students that have no idea what course/career they would like to pursue post-secondary education, it may provide some insight and highlight new ideas they never thought of previously. We encourage all students to be curious and bold in having conversations with multiple exhibitors and explore areas of interest they may not have necessarily thought of before. Remember that there are no right or wrong career paths.

We hope the evening will inspire the students to gain more clarity into their areas of interest and that they make the most of the evening.
