Look what's been going on...

Year 5/6 Camp Sunnystones
Well, after a short delay, the year 5/6 students finally made it out to Camp Sunnystones, just outside of Bacchus Marsh for their school camp. Miraculously, all 44 students were able to attend and had an amazing time, taking part in some truly unique experiences from Geocaching to learning about what it might be like to live in the bush as a bird or a snake.
The year 5/6 will have much more to say about camp in the next edition of the newsletter.
Suffice to say, it was a tremendous succes due to the outstanding behaviour and attitude of our students and the tremendous amount of hard work and preparation put into it by our staff.
A big thank you to Mr Johnson, Mrs Chalkely, Mrs Galgani and Mrs Sutherland who all made sure that the students had a wonderful time while they were away from their families.
Finally an especially sincere thank you to our two amazing year 5/6 teachers, who not only put in a lot of work preparing the camp, communicating with parents and staffed the camp itself for the full 4 days, but also went above and beyond to make sure that all of the students felt safe and cared for througout the entire process.
I can't wait for next years camp to come.

Year 5/6 Debating
The Year 5/6 students have just finished Session 6 of their Debating Program. The 'Grand Finale' will take place next Thursday, during which our students will be able to show the remarkable debating skills they have developed throughout the course. They will also be presented graduation certificates and trophies.
A big thank you to Sandra de Geest, proprietor of Advanced Presentation Skills, who has expertly tutored the students throughout the course.
Beware parents, you might find yourself being soundly and logically convinced of all sorts of things by these students and their new found skills.
St Cecilia's Swimming Stars
A squad of approximately 30 students trained hard over a number of week under the before competing in the Glen Iris District Swimming Championships.
A huge thank you to our wonderful St Cecilia's Swim Squad 2022. I know waking up early to attend squad training at 7:00am is not easy but you all did it in style. As soon as you arrived at the pool you were all eager to jump in and give it your all. It was great to see the team bonding during breakfast in the Hall.
The support amongst the group was amazing. A BIG, BIG thank you to Liz Reed and David Hase for their wonderful coaching at training and on Carnival day. You both inspired the swimmers to be the best they could be.
What's a carnival without a cheer squad. Thank you to Lois Chieng and Katia Porto who supported our swimmers. Also thanks to the parents we could not have had a swim squad without.
We had a number of students who progressed to the Boroondara Division:
Congratulations to Lucy R - 50m Butterfly and Freestyle
Thea S - 50m Freestyle and Butterfly
Eliza S - 50m Breastroke
A special congratulations to our first ever 200m Mixed Medley Relay - Lucy R, Thea S, Laila H and Sabrina P.
From the Boroondara Division Lucy R progressed to the Eastern Metropolitan
Swimming Carnival today for the 50m Butterfly. Lucy managed 4th in an extremely close race. This is an exceptional achievement and we are very proud of Lucy and all of the swimmers for their dedication and commitment.
St. Cecila's may be small but what a group of talented athletes we have. I am so proud of you all. If you have any queries regarding the Swimming Squad please don't hesitate to contact me at any time at tgalgani@scgleniris.catholic.edu.au.
Training will commence in term 4. Further information will be sent out at a later date.
Until then keep swimming and have fun. I look forward to next year's Swimming Carnival and the next generation of swimmers.

French News
Bonjour,
In French this week the grades 5/6s worked on class instructions. They created some posters with instructions in French and in English to use in the class. Here is a sample of some of them...
