Cybersafety at COHR in 2022

Thank you to those families who signed up for the Cyber Safety webinar last Wednesday night,  Raising Kids in a Digital World 2022.  If you didn't watch it live you should have received a link to the webinar, if you haven't received the link or you forgot to register, please email me and I can forward on the link.  This link will expire at the end of the term.

The webinar was extremely informative - SUPERVISION & COMMUNICATION were key concepts that were discussed.   Supervision will help to minimize risks, devices should be out of bedrooms for primary school children.  Communication should be happening now so that you know when your child is ready for Social Media/Gaming/being Online.

These were some of the topics discussed and to get the conversations happening......

• Have you turned location sharing off?  
• Have you established Where & When devices are allowed to be used and for how long?
• Have you started conversations about - cyberbullying, respect, photo sharing, consent, risks, privacy, sexuality?
• Have you agreed to privacy and safety settings?
• Have you set up consequences to follow through with?
• Have you a balance of GREEN TIME & SCREEN TIME?

Marty and Carly both recommended these apps or sites to visit for more information.  The Beacon app we have advertised before and it is a great app to have on your phone as it pushes out updates or information on the latest 'games' that you need to know if your children are using.

Roblox - Marty spoke about Roblox and made suggestions for parents - 

• Have you checked the settings and got it with restrictions?
• Have you turned off chat or messages?
• Have you only allowed your child to play approved games?
