COHR Library - Author Visit happening next week!

LIBRARY NEWS

This term in our Library lessons, levels have explored different authors/illustrators, looking at their characters or events and how they develop them.  Discussions have taken place with making connections to these texts, the feelings that some of these characters portray and the influence and attitude that books can impart on us as readers.

Prep: Eric Carle and creating some of his characters.

1\2: Leigh Hobbs and following his directions to draw his characters.

3\4: Sonya Hartnett & Lucia Masciullo and thinking of a new title for her 'cat' books.

5\6: Jackie French & Bruce Whatley, comparing their stories to recent events - pandemics/floods/earthquakes!

All students have been introduced to author Adam Wallace and his books.  We are looking forward to Adam visiting COHR next Tuesday 29th March.  Adam will be working with all classes, sharing his ideas on how to get writing, some different techniques that we can use as well as getting us all to draw something.  We have been exploring some of his books - The How To Catch series, Fartboy and Cowboy & Birdbrain.  Adam will also introduce us to some of his drawing books.

If you would like to discover Adam for yourself, please visit his website.  There are some freebies on his website as well as many fun activities to make!

Adam will have some order forms available for any students who would like to purchase. Students will bring these home after his visit and if interested, return to school and Adam will supply signed copies the following week.

Thank You to those families who have ordered from Issues 1 & 2 from Scholastic.  We have had a great response for Term 1 and have been able to purchase $150 worth of free books for our library.

Orders are completed online or sent to school and we thank our volunteer Mums - Anna Saraullo & Agnes Bermingham for coordinating these orders.
