Assistant Principal's Report

Miss Carly Epskamp

It has been a busy fortnight at DPS. As we approach the end of Term, I reflect on some of the things we've done and look forward to the exciting things happening in Term Two.

Cultural Diversity Week

Last week ended with a huge celebration and appreciation of the many cultures we represent at DPS. Students participated in classroom activities, competitions and year level parades. Some students were awarded 'best dressed' certificates, but we thank all of the students who made the effort to dress up and represent the country of their choice. You looked amazing and we are so proud!

National Young Leaders Day Conference

Last week, I was incredibly lucky to attend the National Young Leaders Day Conference with the four DPS School Captains. We had a wonderful day being inspired by many successful Australians all with different passions and talents. Isobel, Lexie, Weihan and Joshua have written a reflective piece about the day in our Captains Corner part of the newsletter. I hope you take the time to enjoy this piece of writing.

CAREnet Mobile Food Pantry

Last week we were lucky enough to receive several shopping bags full of groceries to give to some of our DPS families. These were donated by the CAREnet mobile Food Pantry.  If you and your family would benefit from a shopping bag or two full of groceries, you can pick them up from CAREnet  at 8 Montgomery Street Doncaster. It is all free and there are no referrals needed.

Prospective Parents Information Night

On Tuesday night we had some new families visit us at Doncaster Primary School for a tour and an Information session. We had approximately 18 new families, which was a good turnout. Our School Captains spoke to the interested parents and students about DPS, our values, and what it's like to be a great kid at DPS. Isobel, Lexie, Weihan and Joshua spoke extremely well and helped promote our school to our community. If you know of any families that may be interested in coming to DPS, please ask them to call the office and make an enquiry. We'd love to take them on a School Tour.

COVID safe kits

In addition to our current COVID safe practises, each classroom has also been provided with a COVID safe kit, which contains wipes, ajax spray, gloves, sanitiser, a bucket and other associated cleaning supplies. This is all to minimise the risk and spread of COVID within our classrooms.

Easter

As this is the last newsletter of Term One, I would like to wish all of the DPS families a lovely Easter. I have visited classrooms throughout this week and many of the students say they are really looking forward to those family traditions and time spent celebrating together. I hope you enjoy the time you spend together as a family.  Wishing you a safe and happy two week break. We can't wait to see all of the smiling students back at school on our first day back of Term Two.
