The 2021 School Council met for its first meeting of 2022 in mid-February, confirming a number of key areas of focus for the year ahead:

  • Student Voice – Further enabling and enhancing student voice in leadership and decision making, including supporting the SRC in the implementation of outcomes from their recent planning day.
  • Review of uniform policy – In 2021, Council committed to undertaking a holistic review of the uniform policy, with that process commencing at the first meeting this year. Council will be engaging with the SRC and seeking feedback from the school community as part of this process, which is expected to deliver its outcomes by the middle of the year.
  • Canteen – Arrangements are due for review this year and Council will also be engaging with the school community as part of this process.
  • Engagement and Communications – Continue to improve Council communication to the community, re-invigorate the Parents and Friends Association and contribute to the launch of a new website for the school.
  • Buildings and Grounds – Continue to enable enhancements, as affordable, with focus on improving student amenities and outdoor spaces.
  • Strategic Focus – Continue to focus energy and resources towards the achievement of the school’s strategic goals to improve student achievement, improve student wellbeing and improve student engagement. Based on new data that has recently become available, we are seeing positive achievements being made in all targeted areas and would like to congratulate all staff for their hard work in supporting student achievement, engagement and wellbeing.

On Tuesday 15th March, we will be presenting the 2021 Annual Report to the school community.

The Annual Report reviews the 2021 profile of the school and its performance in a number of key areas including student achievement, engagement, wellbeing and finance. Principal Karl Russell will present the report and I will also briefly present on School Council activity and outcomes for 2021.

This will run as a live stream, from 5.30pm – 5.50pm, and I’d like to encourage you to join us. Further information will be communicated via Compass.

Tuesday 15th March will also see the last meeting for the current membership of the School Council, and the first meeting of a newly convened School Council, including freshly elected and co-opted members and office-bearers. My thanks to all 2021/22 Council members for your commitment and contribution and congratulations to new members.

All the best,

Andrew Hall

School Council President
