BNWPS Comms Subcommittee!

Hi BNWPS!

Currently, we are Hannah Reid, Keir Jasper, Helen Metzger, Kelly Davis, and Sandra Simpson (Chair).

Our goal is to make the comms experience at BNWPS an easy and informative exchange, aligned with the BNWPS values of Creativity, Respect, Connection and Authenticity.

We aim to:

  • simplify communication channels
  • establish clear policies & procedures
  • implement best practice.

Our first tasks are focused on clarity in our communications. We’re focusing on where things are communicated (the platforms) and how things are communicated (the language).

As a first step as to where, we have produced a quick-reference guide to the platforms at BNWPS. A couple of notes about the graphic:

  • Sentral is the primary source of truth for school-related information generally. The app has had many updates in the last few years and is now a great tool for keeping track of your school related life admin. Here you will find all school related notifications. You can also message teachers directly, access student reports, the Sprout menu, report absences, make school payments, and much more.

  • Seesaw is COMING! For many families, you may not have used Seesaw yet. It’s a child-specific, curriculum-focused tool. Our leadership team and teaching staff are working hard to have this ready, hopefully for the commencement of T2!

We hope you will find this graphic clear and helpful, and we look forward to your feedback. Over the coming weeks, we aim to provide additional tips for getting the most out of Sentral and Seesaw.

As a recently formed School Council sub-committee, our key objective is to design and implement a Communication Strategy that will serve as a central resource for all communications related to our school’s community. We were formed to assist the school in addressing areas of improvement raised during community and staff discussions. If you are as passionate about clear, consistent, and open communication as we are, please join us in this new chapter. Sub-committees are open to members, without an election process.

We could particularly benefit from the assistance of:

  • anyone who’s savvy with websites who would like to volunteer for an initial inventory/clean-up or occasional update.
  • parents or carers with design/publishing experience.
