What's happening in our classrooms

Grade Prep

Grade Prep

The grade Preps have demonstrated the school value of Resilience and Learning as they bounce back from another cycle of remote learning. We are beyond happy to have the children back in the classroom and eager to learn.

As the new semester commences, we have had the opportunity to work closely with our English Consultant – Stephen Graham during our writing lessons.  Students have been focusing on descriptive writing by orally constructing simple sentences before they write. For reading students have been learning to develop their understanding of the text by making connections to the story.

In our mathematics sessions we have been practicing our calendar work daily by reciting the days of the week and months of the year and identifying the day, month, date and special events on the calendar. We are also exploring numbers from 10-20 by consolidating our knowledge of numbers from 0-10 through manipulating concrete materials and representing numbers in various ways.

This term our Inquiry unit focus is ‘Our World’ where we investigate living and non-living things. Classroom discussions will allow students to develop their understanding as they question, predict, identify and compare the living and non-living.
