Co-curricular - Senior Sport

Welcome Back...
Having thoroughly enjoyed participating in school sport during Terms 1 and 2, it appears as though we are experiencing déjà vu as the end of the winter season is impacted again by COVID-19. With Greater Sydney currently in lockdown and the number of COVID-19 cases continuing to grow within the community, there is a great deal of uncertainty as to what impact this will have on school sport at all levels.
At this point in time, all sporting events scheduled to take place in the first two weeks of Term 3 have been cancelled, with the intent of rescheduling these events where possible.
In the coming weeks, I will be meeting with the Independent Sporting Association (ISA) and other heads of sport to discuss all sport matters moving forward. Please know that the focus is now on students returning to school safely prior to sport resuming. In the meantime, students are encouraged to be active and exercise in the safety of their own surroundings.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation as we jump this hurdle together. Rest assured that the College will keep you updated when relevant information comes to hand.
Congratulations
During the last week of school and throughout the course of the break before lockdown, there were several boys who were involved in sporting activities that deserve a special mention.
Congratulations to Thomas Allsopp of Year 12 who gained selection in the NSW 2nd XV Team after representing ISA at the Rugby Schools Championships.
After the National Youth and Masters Bouldering Championships was cancelled due to COVID-19, Dylan Parks of Year 10 was offered a wildcard place to compete at the NSW/ACT Open A Lead and Speed State Championship at the end of last term. I am pleased to report that Dylan placed 3rd in the Open A (Adults) NSW Lead State Titles, with 1st place heading to the Oceania Tokyo Olympics.
In the first week of the holidays, these students were announced in the following positions for the NSW Combined Independent Schools (NSWCIS) Rugby League Teams:
- Joseph Nohra was named Captain of the 18 Years and Under Rugby League Team
- Alex Conti was named Co-captain of the 15 Years and Under Rugby League Team.
Along with Jordan Roumanous (18 Years and Under) and Mitchell Woods (15 Years and Under), these four boys represented the College with pride and passion playing well for the duration of the tournament. Well done to Mitchell Woods who gained further honours and was named in the NSW 15 Years and Under Merit Team.
