Ancient Civilisations

A Blast From the Past!

Last semester our year 7's have been travelling through time, exploring the rich and interesting history of ancient civilisations, from China to Rome. Ancient Civilizations Night has been a long-standing tradition here at Ballarat High School, and though it was cancelled this year, it didn’t stop the fun, nor did it prevent our students from creating some incredible models to put on display. Every year our year 7's conduct a personal enquiry into an ancient civilisation of their choice, and from this, they select one aspect that they wish to present to the class. We are always amazed with the bounty of models, dioramas, performances and culinary displays that our students produce and this year was no exception! From ancient Roman houses recreated using Minecraft, to a 3D printed model of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and even a rap courageously performed to our faculty. What impresses us all are the innovative ways that students apply modern technology and their personal skills to examine aspects of history.

With so many impressive examples of student work, it was a difficult choice for the judges, we congratulate and commend all year 7's who worked so hard on their History studies this year.

Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Ancient Civilisation model competition!
