Year 8

Bentleigh East Campus

Dear parents and students I hope that you are all safe and well and negotiating this recent lockdown as best as you can.

Term 3 is always an extremely busy term regardless of lockdowns. It was great to see the students signing up for sport try-outs for this term’s sport while others are involved with Chess and Art Clubs. I hope everyone is enjoying their Semester 2 Electives.

It was good to see the Senior Production just before lockdown. I look forward to the possibility of a Junior Production and encourage you to consider becoming involved in some manner.

As the term progresses we will also be looking forward to the possibility of Year 8 Camp. There will be more details as they emerge. It is always an advantageous idea to be a step ahead and not leaving things to the end. I would recommend making sure medical and personal details are up to date on Operoo. It is also a good idea to check Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management Plans. The Year 8 Camps are due to run at the end of Term 3 and early Term 4, however we await further advice given the current restrictions.

The return to Remote Learning while sudden, seems to be progressing well. It is always fabulous to see the students via our Google Meet Classes. Although some students thrive in the online setting it remains a challenge for others. I would encourage all Year 8 Students to stay connected with their teachers and classes. Wellbeing is very important and touching base each lesson really helps us all. If you are finding things difficult please reach out to one of us. Mr Vlamakis is always available too and has included some strategies to assist.

As we look ahead, I welcome back Mr Fotios Koutsogiannopoulos. I would also like to thank the Homeroom Teachers, Year 8 Staff and Learning Support Officers for all their work and support of myself and the students. I would also like to express my appreciation to our parents for their support and partnership during these challenging days.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any assistance.

God Bless and keep safe!
