VCAL news

On Friday 21st May, the Year 12 VCAL students ran our first ever colour run for the College. The colour run is a symbolic Hindu festival, representing a triumph of good over evil, friendship and kindness. It was decided that this would be a perfect event to celebrate the diversity and acceptance we have for all students at Lyndhurst Secondary College.

Students across the College were invited to participate in the colour run. Students came to school in their old clothes and were decked out with safety glasses. Students ran through a “runway” of VCAL students throwing coloured chalk at them. Participating students had a fantastic time and were then also treated to a free BBQ.

The colour run was a successful experience. Every student had lots of fun and participated in most of the activities that ran. The clean-up was fast and easy and everyone went home happy.

It was great to see the students some and participate in the colour run, with all of the different year levels coming together to celebrate. Altogether, it was fun to be a part of.

The colour run was so much fun and turned out to be better than expected. With so many more students participating in the colour run and enjoying themselves. The barbeque was delicious and ran out very quickly which was good.

The colour run was a great experience to be a part of. It was great to see all of the different communities come together and all have a great day. It was amazing to see so many students participate and I can only hope next year is as much fun!

I am very grateful to have been a part of the colour run and to be organising it. The colour run ended up being a success and there were lots of smiles on everyone faces while they ran through the powder. I hope this become a tradition for the school every year as it was very fun and celebrated for a good reason.

On Tuesday 25th May, Melanie, from Roadsafe South East, visited all of our Year 12 students. Students participated in a session called “Looking after our mates”. The program is a drug and drink drive information session about responsible drinking, safe driving and looking after your friends.

Students took part in a power point information session, online quiz and group problem solving activity.

Biggest Morning Tea

I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone’s generosity.

We raised $97 for our morning tea on Thursday 27th May. All of this money will be donated to the Cancer Council of Australia.

A huge thank you to both Mel in the kitchen, and the VCAL students, for their effort in cooking up a storm.
