ABCN Partnership Program

ABCN Partnership Program

We were recently given the opportunity to work with the Australian Business Council Network (ABCN) to facilitate the Focus program.

This program is designed to provide Year 10 and Year 11 female students with leadership skills that they need to engage in a successful and meaningful career.  The students identified influential women in their lives, ranging from their mothers, sisters, Jacinda Ardern, Molly Taylor, Ash Barty and other famous women, acknowledging these people’s strength, resilience, determination, honesty and perseverance as traits to embody.  They also identified their own strengths and weaknesses to further develop their own reflective habits and resilience.  All of the students were matched with mentors from Korn Ferry, an international Human Resources company, and Optus, the telecommunications company, allowing the Scoresby students to see how these women in business applied some of the leadership habits and traits that they were developing.

We are very grateful for ABCN and in particular Gill Lambie for facilitating our sessions and look forward to our young women becoming the strong leaders as they move into their final years at Scoresby and into their chosen careers.

ABCN Leadership Summit

Last week, Aimee Bugeja (Year 11) participated in the ABCN Accelerate Leadership Summit, designed to develop and extend her leadership and financial management skills.  Despite being a virtual summit, having originally been booked for Sydney, Aimee was able to engage in the sessions, both with industry leaders and her mentor.  Aimee was one of 35 first year scholars as part of her three-year scholarship through ABCN.  ABCN works to connect industry with schools, facilitating programs that allow students to access mentors within business and develop their own leadership skills and traits. This summit focused on Aimee developing her understanding of the personal what, how and why of money management, as well as practical strategies to apply – something she will no doubt find beneficial both personally and professionally.  We are very proud of the way that Aimee was able to engage with her sessions and connect with her mentor, despite the virtual nature of the summit.
