Feast of the Assumption
Sunday 15th August
On August 15th we celebrate the Assumption of Mary into heaven. This day marks the end of Mary's life on earth and the transition of her body and soul to heaven to be reunited with Jesus.
We remember Mary as a faithful and faith filled woman. She said 'Yes' to God and put trust in his plan for her.
The day is recognised by the Catholic Church as a day of obligation and is even a public holiday in some countries. It is celebrated by festivals and feasts in many parts of the world.
