Junior School

NAPLAN Results!

Recently Huntingtower was featured in the news, with the Junior School being mentioned specifically, having been listed as one of the top performing schools in the state!

The JS was ranked 4th in Victoria and 11th in Australia - an outstanding achievement!

We are truly grateful to have such dedicated teachers and students here at Huntingtower. It is amazing to see the hard work and success of our community year after year, and especially recently with so much time spent in online learning.

Junior School Art

Over the last few weeks the students were asked to create artworks responding to different artists and themes. Students were asked to create their own ‘Great Waves’ inspired by Japanese artist Hokusai - using the materials which they have at home.

We later learned about French Impressionists, and specifically, Claude Monet. Students were asked to respond to Monet’s painting of his Japanese bridge in his garden, and create an artwork using a range of marks to represent different textures. This week we have learned about the Native American people of the Northwest Coast of American and used symbols to create totem poles – both sculptures and drawings.

Year 3 AFL Incursion

Max Pinchbeck and Kevin Monaghan were the two AFL representatives that took the Year 3’s through their paces in the online clinic this week. It was very popular with all the students.

"I loved the AFL Clinic because it was so much fun. My favourite part was the marking, but I enjoyed the handballing games as well. I would rate this experience a 10/10. Our coaches, Kevin and Max made the sessions enjoyable and when I made mistakes, they kept encouraging me to keep going. It was an amazing experience and I hope it happens again." - Peter G

"These were my favourite activities in order: I really liked the teddy marking the best, then the throwing and clapping marking, then the handballing into the box and then the other handballing." - Jaxson B
